Summer is in full bloom!
We are moving soon, and my thoughts are on our new yard and the possibilities that come with a blank slate! We are going from a yard that has mature landscaping to an acre of grass. The possibilities are endless, and I find myself a bit overwhelmed.

We have some new additions to our little backyard flock! Three adorable ducklings!

We lost one of our ducks to a raccoon and have beefed up our predator proofing on our run and coop. Now our duck, Daisy, is ready for some more friends!

Have you heard of working ducks? They are ducks used in a yard, garden, or orchard to control insects, slugs, and snails.
We have a few fruit trees and lots of plants in our backyard. We've never eaten the plums from our trees because we haven't sprayed them, and they are usually full of worms. I've heard that working ducks can help with pest management!
I'm trying to let Daisy out more and let her eat up all the insects she can find! And once we have more ducks, we'll see if we have less of a pest issue in our backyard.
